The textile industry consumes large quantities of water for all its manufacturing processes. Production also impacts water quality through effluents that have a high potential for pollution. We take our responsibility seriously, therefore, to systematically measure consumption by the different areas, particularly in production plants, sanitary facilities, and the cafeteria. We ensure treatment of 100% of wastewater discharges and work to increase the amount of water recirculated. The water cycle at Lafayette begins with water from the municipal water supply, and treatment and recirculation begin once water enters the wastewater stream.

Energy consumption is concentrated in our three production plants—yarn manufacturing, fabric weaving, and fabric finishing—and is particularly high in refrigeration, steam, and compressed air systems due to their critical role in the production process. As a result, we focused our continuous improvement efforts primarily on these systems.
