As part of its celebration of 80 years of innovation, Lafayette fabrics made its presence felt at Colombiatex de las Américas, the leading trade fair for the apparel and textile industry in Colombia. It staged a variety of spaces at the fair in demonstration of its strong commitment to social and environmental sustainability expressed in four key drivers of growth: technology, inspiration, innovation, and design.
“Raise your energy” is our slogan for living an inspired year 2022. So the staging for ‘Inspiration: 80 years of Innovation,’ called “Forever New,” gave attendees an experience with the essence of inspiration that transforms. The space was filled with the rich feel of digital printing on garments, furniture, curtains, uniforms, and athletic wear.
Designer Olga Piedrahita adapted the designs of Richa Kashelkar, an Indian artist whose illustrations celebrate the beauty of life and the mysteries of existence, creating a dialogue between his works in a narrative printed on fabric.
Elsewhere, Lafayette Sports presented its latest collection of sustainable textiles made from biodegradable base fabrics for different applications, including t-shirts, leggings, and jackets. In less than 2 years, these base fabrics biodegrade 75% in a marine environment and 91% in a landfill.
Lafayette Fashion also showcased its most recent beachwear collection made from Lurex, a sustainable base fabric that incorporates metallic fibers, bringing together a natural look with a sophisticated luster.
Reebag and Vendaval are versatile base fabrics made from recycled yarn from PET bottles. Reebag is ideal for making briefcases, suitcases and backpacks – giving structure to the accessory – while Vendaval is perfect for windbreakers, jackets, and the lining of accessories.
In the world of home decor, we presented our Terra base fabric. It’s an ancestral collection inspired by our land, our knowledge, and our rituals, evoking a feeling of closeness and unity, with a sense of belonging. As a base fabric for curtains for home and business applications, Terra targets functionality, democratizing design to make it available to everyone.
Lastly, in alliance with Westex, Lafayette Uni For Me presented its line of flame resistant fabrics that provide protection from 3 industrial hazards: electric arc flash, flash fire, and molten metal. The line’s fabrics are immediately available in a variety of colors.
